  • More About the Guest:

Elisabeth Simard grew up in the suburbs outside of Quebec. She refers to herself as a shy loner in her youth with a ton of imagination and a lot of fears. To work out her fears, she looked to books. By reading (and re-reading) particular books, she was able to overcome her fear of the unknown and learn to trust herself. Now as a mother, she knows her fears and their triggers. Consequently, she strives to convey that powerful self-awareness to her children.

As a Simplicity Parenting Coach, Elisabeth emphasizes the power of consciousness and presence for both children and their parents. In her training programs, Elisabeth guides her participants to take care of their inner landscape and healing. By doing so we model presence, healing, and self-care for our children. Furthermore, in dealing with our own complex feelings and emotions, we give children a sense of security and grounding.

    More About The Conversation:

Elisabeth and David discuss techniques for examining our fears. They discuss the benefits and encourage parents to practice separating their fears from their children. In owning our own issues, we lessen their impact on our children. In this way, we allow space for presence, openness, and healing. Elisabeth and David delve into the power of what Elisabeth calls the Sacred Pause. They examine how taking a moment to breathe and check in when triggered helps adults and children alike process their emotions and take responsibility for their words and actions.

    About the Story:

When David asks, “What do you think children need to hear right now?” Elisabeth suggests that children need to know that adults are in charge of taking care of themselves. When David and Elisabeth get to crafting their story, Elisabeth welcomes the opportunity to create an adventure tale that her sons will enjoy.  In this pirate story (a special addition to the Windward Ho! Collections), we join Fiona as she travels alone on a new pirate ship. Here among this new crew, she puts her herbalist skills to work to help some ailing pirates on an emotional adventure.
